EU extends approval periods for 16 ais
The European Commission has confirmed that existing approval periods for 16 active ingredients have been extended to July 31st 2018. The move is to allow more time to complete EU procedures for renewing the authorisations. The 16 ais are: the herbicides, beflubutamid, glufosinate-ammonium and metribuzin; the fungicides, captan, dimethomorph, folpet and propamocarb; the insecticides, dimethoate, ethoprophos, fenamiphos, fipronil, formetanate, methiocarb, phosmet and pirimiphos-methyl; and the plant growth regulator, ethephon. The original expiration dates were July 31st 2017 for ethephon and fenamiphos, November 30th 2017 for beflubutamid, and September 30th 2017 for the other ais. The expiry dates will revert to these dates if the applications for renewal are unsuccessful, the Commission notes.
