Brazil mulls single agchem approval body
The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture has proposed the creation of a single body to cover the evaluation process for the approval of pesticide active ingredients. Minister Katia Abreu outlined her priorities and repeated that among them was the speeding up of pesticide registration processes through a “reduction in bureaucracy”. She said that she was “sensitive to the calls of growers” for such a move. The new body would be called the CTNFito and would be modelled along the lines of the national technical commission for biosafety, the CTNBio.
