Canada to grant full approval to Dow's Isoclast
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has proposed the full approval of Dow AgroSciences' sulfoxaflor (trade-marked as Isoclast)-based insecticides, Transform WG and Closer. They were granted conditional registrations in 2013. The products are for the control of aphids, leafhoppers, scales and Lygus spp bugs on field vegetables, cereals, oilseeds, fruit and nut crops. Sulfoxaflor acts on the same type of insect nerve cell receptors as neonicotinoid insecticides but is considered to have a different mode of action. Insects resistant to neonicotinoids have not shown cross-resistance to sulfoxaflor, the PMRA notes. The proposed registration decision is open to public comment until May 8th.
