Portuguese agchem container recycling up 15%
Portugal’s collection and recycling of empty pesticide containers rose by 14.5% to a record 297.4 tonnes in 2014, according to the country’s pesticide container management system, the Valorfito. The annual increase is the fourth in a row, while the rate of returns and collections hit some 40% last year against 36% in 2013. The steady growth in the rate had taken collections from 30% of containers in 2011. The system is owned and run by the crop protection association, the Anipla, and the distributors’ network, the Groquifar.
