Boom in online agchem trade concerns Brazil regulators

The acquisition of pesticides in Brazil over the internet has recorded “large scale” growth, national media report. Regulators are concerned of an increase in the quantity of falsified products and other irregularities. Parana state Adapar regulator Adriano Riesemberg tells Agrolink newsire of the risks. “Online trade in pesticides has grown and so have the risks a purchased product is falsified or stolen,” he says. “In some situations, the seller is only a middleman. He does not store and does not provide proof of safe storage or of technically trained staff. I wish legislation forbade it, but it does not.”
