Canada to OK copper octanoate products
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has proposed the full registration of eight copper octanoate-based fungicides/bactericides under German pesticide company W Neudorrf's Cueva brand. One commercial and seven domestic use products are for the broad-spectrum control of fungal and bacterial diseases on fruit, vegetables, tree nuts, turf and ornamentals. Copper octanoate has value in resistance management because it is considered to have a low risk of resistance development, the PMRA notes. Cueva brand products are sold in the US by Mitsui & Co's US biopesticide subsidiary, Certis USA, under a distribution deal with W Neudorff. The Canadian registration decision is open to public comment until May 28th.
