German MRL violations down in 2013
Pesticide maximum residue limit (MRL) violations in food tested in Germany in 2013 were found in 2.1% of analysed samples, reveal figures collected by the federal office for consumer protection and food safety, the BVL. That was down on the level of 2.4% in 2012. Residues below MRLs were found in 61.8% of samples, compared with 61.1% in 2012. The percentage of samples with no measurable residues went down from 36.5% in 2012 to 36.1% in 2013.
