Canada to OK Double Nickel biofungicides
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) proposes full approval for the Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain D747-based biofungicides, Double Nickel 55 and Double Nickel LC, for the suppression of fungal and bacterial diseases on cucurbits, fruiting vegetables, pome fruit, grapevines, strawberries, lettuces, potatoes and soybeans. They are intended for use as foliar and soil-applied treatments. Kumiai Chemical and Mitsui & Co's subsidiary, Certis USA, are introducing the biofungicides under a global licensing deal. They received US approval for three B amyloliquefaciens strain D747-based biofungicides in December 2011. The PMRA's proposed registration decision is open to public comment until May 30th.
