Brazil Anvisa OKs DuPont’s Cyazypyr
The Brazilian national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa, added DuPont’s insecticide, cyantraniliprole (trade-marked as Cyazypyr), to its list of approved pesticide active ingredients last month. The approval includes a range of crops largely as a foliar application, but also some soil applications and on seed for cotton, maize and soybeans. Full approval for sale and use in the country requires assent of the Ministry of Agriculture. The Anvisa authorisation follows its toxicology assessment. The insecticide gained emergency import approval last year for use in the state of Minas Gerais for the control of coffee borers (Hypothenemus hampei). The comment period for the move ends this month.
