New Zealand hearing on dichlorvos phase-out
The New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) is to hold a public hearing on its reassessment of the organophosphate insecticide, dichlorvos. The hearing will be held in Wellington on May 6th-7th. In October 2014, the EPA proposed the phase-out of most uses of dichlorvos because of the risks of "serious human health and environmental effects" from "very small exposures". The Authority would expect to make a final decision within 30 working days of the hearing but it may be longer if further information is sought.
