Canadian PMRA clears DuPont's Upbeet
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has determined that DuPont's herbicide, Upbeet (triflusulfuron-methyl 50%), is eligible for continued registration following a re-evaluation. The herbicide does not present unacceptable risks to human health or the environment when used according to the registration conditions, including amended label directions, the PMRA notes. Upbeet is a post-emergence herbicide for the control of broadleaf weeds and grasses in sugar beet, garden beet and root chicory in the province of Ontario only. The amended label conditions include a 12-hour restricted entry period after treatment and buffer zones to protect sensitive terrestrial and aquatic habitats.
