Monsanto opens Australian cotton research unit
Monsanto has officially opened its new Australian cotton research facility in Toowoomba, Australia. Plans for the site were unveiled in late 2013. The facility will ensure that cotton growers continue to benefit from the company's genetically modified insect-resistant and herbicide-tolerant cotton lines for years to come, Monsanto says. "With a focus on bringing to market new technologies and a dedicated Bt resistance monitoring programme, the new centre increases our research capacity and will help ensure Australian cotton growers remain among the most productive and innovative in the world," says Monsanto Australia's managing director, Daniel Kruithoff.
