Canada extends agchem and seed bag collection pilot
The Canadian pesticide industry's waste stewardship scheme, CleanFarms, is to carry out an extended pilot project to collect and dispose of empty pesticide and seed bags in the province of Ontario. The project will be conducted between May and September. It will cover multi-walled paper, plastic and aluminium pesticide bags and multi-walled paper and polywoven plastic seed bags. CleanFarms initiated a pilot programme for such packaging in Ontario and Quebec last year. The CleanFarms scheme collects and recycles pesticide and fertiliser containers and unwanted pesticides and veterinary medicines.
