Canada OKs BASF's Caramba for maize

BASF has received Canadian approval for the fungicide, Caramba (Kureha's metconazole), for the suppression of Fusarium head blight (Fusarium graminearum) and Gibberella ear rot (Giberella zeae) on maize in eastern Canada. The fungicide reduces levels of deoxynivalenol (DON) toxins as well as increasing grain yield and quality, the company notes. The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency recently granted full approval for the use of Caramba on cereals, soybeans and sugar beet.
