Canada clears Bayer's propamocarb

The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) proposes that products based on Bayer CropScience's fungicide, propamocarb, are eligible for continued registration following a re-evaluation of the active ingredient. The Agency proposes no additional risk mitigation measures relating to human health or environmental exposure to the fungicide. Bayer markets Tatoo (propamocarb hydrochloride 722 g/litre) and Tatoo C (propamocarb hydrochloride 375 g/litre + chlorothalonil 375 g/litre) for the control of late blight (Phytophthora infestans) on potatoes and tomatoes, and downy mildew on cucurbits and lettuces (Tatoo only). Previcur N (propamocarb hydrochloride 722 g/litre) is for the control of Pythium spp on greenhouse tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants (aubergines) and peppers, and outdoor and greenhouse ornamentals. Banol (propamocarb hydrochloride 722 g/litre) is for the control of Pythium spp on turf. The PMRA's proposal is open to public comment until June 25th.
