Herbicide mix beats rotation as anti-resistance tool

US researchers have shown that using glyphosate in a mixture of herbicides with different modes of action (MoA) is more effective in tackling weed resistance than rotating herbicides with different MoAs. Scientists at the University of Illinois and the USDA's Agricultural Research Service have carried out the study on glyphosate-resistant waterhemp (Amaranthus tuberculatus) by examining data from 105 farms in Illinois, including over 500 site-years of herbicide application records.
