Brazil seeks GMO deal with China

The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture has proposed a “strategic science and technology partnership” with China aimed at deepening co-operation between the countries on genetically modified crops. Minister Katia Abreu reasons that the two countries could enjoy a fruitful relationship in developing biotechnology products together. “The only way to dispel fear in relation to GMOs is we co-develop,” she says. “We who have the responsibility to feed our country and the rest of the world, need quality and low cost,” the Minister said after a meeting with Chinese government delegates.
