Uruguay to register organic crop growers
Uruguay is to guarantee the authenticity of organic crop producers in the country through a registry of such growers. The certification body, the Urucert, is to take registrations provisionally licensing growers to operate in the domestic market for a determined period typically of 12 months. The Ministry of Agriculture’s director general of agricultural services, the DGSA, will determine term periods and the duties to be fulfilled by licensed growers. The registry opened last month.
