Bayer debuts Oberon Speed in Guatemala
Bayer CropScience has debuted its combination insecticide/acaricide, Oberon Speed (spiromesifen + abamectin), in Guatemala. It is a suspension concentrate formulation for the control of whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci and Trialeurodes vaporarium), and various mites including spider mites on vegetables and melons. Regional manager René Martínez Farfán notes the product’s “excellent” insecticidal effect, its appropriate use as part of IPM programmes, and that it holds US EPA registrations. Oberon Speed was also launched in West African countries Benin and Togo last year. Spiromesifen was first approved in 2004 in the UK and Indonesia.
