Argentina approves Dow Enlist E3 soybeans
Argentina has confirmed the approval of Dow AgroSciences’ genetically modified herbicide-tolerant Enlist E3 (DAS44406) soybeans. The Ministry of Agriculture authorised the sale and use of the technology in April. The soybeans are tolerant to the herbicides, 2,4-D, glyphosate and glufosinate-ammonium. The technology becomes the country’s sixth approved GM soybean for sale and use and its first for Dow. Neighbouring Brazil has delayed decisions on approving the product over concerns of the line's safety, but recently authorised the sale of Enlist (DAS68416) soybeans. The Argentine agricultural biotechnology assessor commission, the Conabia, recommended the approval last year.
