Dow plans triple ai maize herbicide in US
Dow AgroSciences plans to introduce a novel combination of three unnamed herbicide active ingredients for the US maize market. The company expects to receive registration for the product, code-named GF-3471, in 2016. It is designed to feature a novel formulation of three leading ais that have not been included in any previous herbicide, Dow points out. The herbicide combines three modes of action and does not include glyphosate or atrazine. The company aims to exceed industry standards with residual control of many herbicide-resistant weeds including Palmer amaranth (Amaranthus palmeri) and giant ragweed (Ambrosia trifida). GF-3471 should offer flexible application timing from pre-plant to early post-emergence.
