China’s glyphosate prices at cost level
China’s glyphosate herbicide market remained depressed at the end of May, with prices stagnating at “cost level” for many companies, reports the Chinese newspaper, the AgriGoods Herald. The paper quotes industry sources as saying that the price of glyphosate technical had “in some cases” fallen back to as low as Yuan 19,000/tonne ($3,100/tonne at the current rate). This price level is comparable to the lowest prices seen during the glyphosate slump of 2008, the paper says. Glyphosate output remains at low levels, and the paper does not rule out prices falling even further in the coming months. Glyphosate prices had recovered from lows in January to some Yuan 23,000-24,000 ($3,700-3,900)/tonne in March.
