Land O'Lakes/United Suppliers to merge crop input businesses
The US agribusiness companies, Land O'Lakes (Arden, Minnesota) and United Suppliers (Ames, Iowa), have agreed to merge their crop input operations. The first step in the merger will be to combine their seed and crop protection businesses and the second will be to join their crop nutrient operations. The planned merger is aimed at creating a "single, strong, relevant and competitive entity", the partners point out. The deal is expected to be completed in October. Land O'Lakes' WinField business recorded $4.9 billion in seed and crop protection sales in 2014, while United Suppliers had $2.6 billion in crop protection, seed and crop nutrient sales.
