Dow debuts PowerCore maize in US
Dow AgroSciences has introduced its genetically modified insect-resistant and herbicide-tolerant PowerCore (MON89034xTC1507xMON603) maize in the US. This option for above-ground insect control for maize growers provides a broad spectrum of control, the company says. The trait was launched in Brazil in 2012. Dow sold more than 2 million units of PowerCore maize in Brazil last year. It provides control of European corn borers, southwestern corn borers, corn earworms, western bean cutworms, black cutworms and fall armyworms, and provides tolerance to the herbicides, glyphosate and glufosinate-ammonium. The insect control solution will be available with the “exceptional weed control” of the Enlist weed control system in 2016, pending import approvals.
