Australia to OK Andermatt bioinsecticide
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed the approval of Swiss biopesticide company Andermatt Biocontrol's viral insecticide, Grandex Biological Insecticide (Cydia pomonella granulosis virus strain V22), for the control of codling moths (C pomonella) and oriental fruit moths (Grapholita molesta) on pome and stone fruit. It has also proposed the authorisation of the virus strain as a new active ingredient. The product has been registered as Madex Twin in the EU and as Madex HP in the US. The Australian decisions are open to public comment until August 11th.
