US to OK DuPont/Syngenta's oxathiapiprolin
The US EPA has proposed the registration of DuPont/Syngenta's fungicide, oxathiapiprolin, for use on a range of vegetables, turf and ornamentals. It is for the control of oomycete fungi such as downy mildews and late blight (Phytophthora infestans). The fungicide has preventive and eradicative activity against foliar and soil-borne diseases. Oxathiapiprolin comes from the piperidinyl thiazole isoxazoline class of fungicides. It has a different mode of action from other fungicides and could therefore minimise disease resistance, the EPA notes. It has been classified as a reduced-risk pesticide for all uses.
