Brazil Parliament debates 100 bills on agchems
No fewer than 100 draft bills concerning agrochemicals are under discussion in the Brazilian Parliament, the newswire Agrolink reports. The majority of those seek the prohibition of the sale and use of certain pesticide active ingredients, it notes. Agricultural parliamentary front FPA consultant Enio Marques reportedly points to a proliferation of studies that reach the wider public through press and other communications and raise a level of confusion on public safety among society. Other areas under discussion in Parliament include questions over the payment of royalties and the rights to plant saved seeds, and contraband pesticides.
