US industry seeks injunction on state GMO label law

The US Chamber of Commerce, the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), the American Chemistry Council and several major agricultural groups are urging a federal appeals court to reverse a lower court ruling that denied a food industry effort to block the state of Vermont from implementing its GMO food labelling law. The industry groups contend that US District Court Judge Christina Reiss missed the mark with her April 27th ruling, which denied the Grocery Manufacturers Association's (GMA) request for a preliminary injunction to bar the state from moving forward with the law while litigation is pending.
