Nissan's agchem sales up 10% in Q1
Nissan Chemical's agrochemical sales rose by 10.2% to ¥13,599 million ($109.3 million at the current rate) in the three months to June 30th 2015. Operating income grew by 10.4% to ¥4,396 million ($35.3 million) in the first quarter of the company's fiscal year ending March 31st 2016. The company saw significant revenue gains in Japan and overseas. The company posted higher sales of the paddy rice herbicide, Altair (metazosulfuron), in Japan and the herbicide, Targa (quizalofop-ethyl), in overseas markets. Non-consolidated agrochemical revenues grew by about 10%. Sales of Roundup (glyphosate) herbicide fell by about 1%. Excluding Roundup, non-consolidated sales rose by about 15%. Nissan's agrochemical sales rose by 16.7% to ¥45,682 million ($367.3 million) in the year ended March 31st 2015.
