DuPont opens US seed treatment centre
DuPont has officially opened its US seed treatment development facility in Johnston, Iowa. It is aimed at developing and testing seed treatment formulations, applications and seed handling techniques. The Johnston facility is the second site in the DuPont Integrated Seed Science Network, following the opening of the first centre in Wilmington, Delaware last year. A third facility is planned for South America. The centres include "real world" testing conditions for products and equipment, laboratories to evaluate the right combinations of seed-applied products, and training facilities to facilitate superior seed application and handling techniques, DuPont points out. The company has introduced several seed treatments under the Lumigen brand, including the insecticidal maize seed treatment, Lumivia (cyantraniliprole - trade-marked as Cyazypyr), in the US this year.
