Evogene/Syngenta enhance nematode resistance pact

Israeli biotechnology company Evogene (Rehovot) is to employ Syngenta know-how to set “transformational and validation capabilities” for genetically modified soybeans, initially focusing on soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines) resistance. Bringing Syngenta expertise in-house follows a recent amendment to the companies' research collaboration involving identification of plant genes related to soybean cyst nematode resistance. The original deal was signed in 2009 and extended in 2013.
