Cibus/Rotam aim herbicide-tolerant rape at China
The US technology company, Cibus Global (San Diego, California), and the Chinese agrochemical company, Rotam (Hong Kong), have agreed to co-operate on the development of non-genetically modified sulfonylurea herbicide-tolerant rapeseed in China. Rotam will take the lead in choosing rapeseed breeding partners and establishing the relevant business model to commercialise the seeds and herbicides in China, the companies point out. The move is aimed at meeting China's need for non-GM rapeseed oil, they add. Cibus introduced its sulfonylurea herbicide-tolerant SU Canola in the US last year in association with Rotam. The latter launched two sulfonylurea herbicides specifically for use with the canola.
