Australia to end fenthion use
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has notified that use of products containing the organophosphate insecticide, fenthion, will end in October when a 12-month phase-out period ends. The registrations for most products will end on October 15th. A label allowing the use of Bayer CropScience's Lebaycid Insecticide Spray as a post-harvest dipping or flood spray of tropical or sub-tropical fruit with inedible peel expires on October 29th. The registration for Amalgamated Pest Control Fenthion 1% Dust expires on November 2nd. The APVMA confirmed its decision to ban most uses of fenthion last October.
