China’s seven-month agchem output up 3%
China’s agrochemical production increased by 3.3% to 2.1 million tonnes in the first seven months of this year. The data come from the country’s National Bureau of Statistics, and are reported by the China Crop Protection Industry Association. Pesticide manufacturing was up by almost 3% to over 300,000 tonnes in July. Herbicide production was flat in the seven-month period, at over 1 million tonnes. Insecticide and fungicide manufacturing declined year-on-year, by 1.9% to 312,000 tonnes and 7.2% to 109,000 tonnes, respectively, indicating that growth in the period came from outside the three main categories for which data are reported. China produced 3.7 million tonnes of agrochemicals in 2014, an increase of 1.4% on the previous year.
