US EPA extends comment period for cumulative risk guidance
The US EPA has granted the pesticide industry's request for more time to comment on draft guidance for how the Agency will screen pesticides for cumulative risk assessments (CRAs). Stakeholders will have until an additional 30 days to submit comments on the proposal, which the EPA published last month. The new comment deadline is September 28th. The Agency initially gave stakeholders until August 28th to comment, but CropLife America and the American Chemistry Council called for an extension. The industry groups said that they needed additional time to provide meaningful comments on the new guidance, which the EPA believes will help it more efficiently prioritise and refine CRAs for pesticides.
