Wynca suffers in first half
Chinese company Zhejiang Wynca Chemical has suffered a downbeat first half, with pesticide sales falling 21.4% to Yuan 1,835.1 million ($287.4 million at the current rate) in the first six months. Total sales, which include those of organosilicone products, slipped 0.6% to some Yuan 4,002.2 million ($626.8 million). Wynca made an operating loss of Yuan 31.9 million ($5 million) during the period. The company blames the poor results on falling prices of its main pesticide product, the herbicide, glyphosate. Wynca was China’s top pesticide company in terms of annual sales in 2014, a position that it may struggle to retain this year if glyphosate prices do not see a significant recovery.
