Eight US states back Vermont GMO label law

Attorneys general for eight US states have thrown their support behind the state of Vermont’s right to enact its GMO labelling law, urging a federal court to reject the food industry’s bid to derail the measure. Two of the states, Connecticut and Maine, have passed their own GMO labelling laws, but both measures require other states to act before they are fully implemented. Attorneys general for Maryland, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Illinois, New Hampshire and Washington also signed onto the amicus brief supporting Vermont.
