ECHA guide for REACH downstream users
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has issued a new practical guide for users of chemicals on how to prepare their chemical safety reports. It explains the options for downstream users under the EU Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation, which covers agrochemical intermediates and co-formulants. Under the regulation, chemical suppliers have to provide information on safe use. However, if the use of a chemical is not covered by the supplier’s exposure scenarios, the user has the option to prepare a downstream user chemical safety report. The ECHA’s guide explains how to: gather information; perform a safety assessment; produce the report; communicate the outcome to customers; and report to the ECHA. The guide complements guidance issued in 2014 for downstream users.
