AgBiTech targets biopesticide approvals

The Australian biopesticide company, AgBiTech (Toowoomba, Queensland), hopes to receive US approval for its bioinsecticide, Fawligen (Spodoptera frugiperda multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus), for the control of fall armyworms (S frugiperda) this year. The company received US approval for the bioinsecticide, Heligen (Helicoverpa zea ABA nucleopolyhedrovirus), for the control of corn earworms/cotton bollworms/tomato fruitworms (H zea) and tobacco budworms (H virescens) on a range of crops in 2014. AgBiTech is aiming for approvals "across all major markets" by 2018, creating a complete portfolio of bioinsecticides targeting the key row-crop pests, Helicoverpa spp, Spodoptera spp and Chrysodeixis spp.
