EU review of 64 ais - clarification

Cheminova has agreed to a temporary voluntary withdrawal of the pyrethroid insecticide, acrinathrin, and the triazole fungicide, flutriafol, from the EU review process, but is to resubmit its data dossiers for both active ingredients in the next few months. The two ais are among 64 ais in a new EU process that aims to provide more time for a complete evaluation of certain ais in the review ( Agrow No 559, p 8). The new procedure allows companies to withdraw an ai from the review and resubmit data, provided that the ongoing assessment has not raised any safety concerns. The European Commission has set a deadline of December 31st 2010 for the completion of the data resubmission and review of these ais, which can remain on the market during this evaluation period. The 64 ais have not been scheduled to be phased out, as indicated in the Agrow report.
