Canada re-evaluates dicloran
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recommends the continued registration of the fungicide, dicloran, provided that measures are taken to reduce risks to health and the environment. The Agency’s proposed re-evaluation decision is based largely on a 2006 US EPA re-registration eligibility decision ( Agrow No 501, p 16). The PMRA calls for reduced application rates to peaches and onions/garlic and maximum seasonal use rates. It specifies a 12-hour restricted entry interval for worker protection and buffer zones for aquatic habitats. The only dicloran-based products in Canada are Gowan’s Botran 75W and Allisan 75W.
