Monsanto wins Argentine anti-trust case
Monsanto has successfully defended itself in an anti-trust case in Argentina. The federal trade and civil chamber ruled in favour of the company against the Argentine government over its right to prosecute lawsuits outside Argentina. The case concerns Monsanto’s rights to launch the lawsuits in EU member state courts for payments of Argentine export produce. It initiated such lawsuits in 2005, seeking payment for produce from Argentina containing its genetically modified soybean technology ( Agrow No 489, p 14).
