MAI loses appeal on EU review of azinphos-methyl
Makhteshim-Agan Industries (MAI) has lost its appeal against an EU court order that refused to suspend the EU withdrawal of the organophosphate insecticide, azinphos-methyl, during an ongoing lawsuit. MAI's main lawsuit is against the EU decision in 2006 not to re-register the active ingredient, which triggered EU phase-out procedures. The company's request for interim measures to suspend the phase-out until a resolution of the main court case was refused by the EU Court of First Instance last year. MAI appealed, but the EU Court of Justice (ECJ) has upheld the original ruling.
