Bayer launches Belt in Brazil - update
Bayer CropScience has launched its insecticide, Belt ( Nihon Nohyaku’s flubendiamide 480 g/litre), in Brazil. Belt is a suspension concentrate formulation for use on soybeans, cotton, maize and tomatoes against soybean loopers ( Pseudoplusia includens) and other lepidopteran pests. Flubendiamide comes from a new chemical class, the phthalic acid diamides, which target insect ryanodine receptors ( Agrow No 479, p 21). Its novel mode of action allows its use in resistance management, Bayer says. The approval is the third for the active ingredient in South America. It is registered in Colombia, also as Belt, and in Chile as Fenos.
