Brazil extends anti-rust policy
Brazil is extending its network programme on combating Asian soybean rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi). The Agriculture Ministry created the National Programme for the Control of Asian Soybean Rust, the PNCFS, through normative measure No 2, in January. The aim is to develop a nationwide policy for the control of the disease, and to extend co-ordinated controls to more remote areas than those previously covered. The Ministry's department of agricultural inputs is to "prioritise the registrations of technologically innovative inputs in the control of rust". The measure also seeks to establish a network of diagnostic laboratories.
