Study finds Turkish fruit farmers over-use agrochemicals:
Most Turkish fruit producers use either inappropriate or more than the recommended amount of pesticides, a study has found. Researchers from the Turkish Ege University and the Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University studied farmers in the fruit growing area, Kemalpasa. They found that pesticide practices among producers were determined by characteristics such as age, fruit-growing experience and education, rather than their accepted awareness of such products' effects, according to a paper in the scientific journal, Crop Protection. The researchers advise training to improve farmers' knowledge.
