Agro-Kanesho to re-introduce PGR (plant growth regulator):
Japanese agrochemical company Agro-Kanesho plans to re-introduce the long-established plant growth regulator, 1-naphthalene acetic acid sodium (NAA-Na), due to demand from Japanese growers. It has applied for the approval of three products: Term, a 22% soluble powder for mandarins; Hiomon, a 4.4% soluble powder for apples and pears; and Arkland, a 0.2% solution concentrate for melons. Agro-Kanesho was one of the leading producers and sellers of NAA-Na-based PGRs in Japan until around 30 years ago. The products were withdrawn when the companies decided to ignore requests for more registration data, due to the high cost and relatively small market size. However, there is still strong demand from Japanese fruit growers, the company says.
