US re-registration for aliphatic alcohols:
The US EPA has determined that four aliphatic alcohols are eligible for re-registration provided that label changes are made to address worker risks. The labels must stipulate personal protective equipment and 48-hour restricted entry intervals. The Agency has no concerns over ecological risks. Three active ingredients, 1-octanol, 1-decanol, and a blend of compounds, are used as plant growth regulators on tobacco. The fourth ai, 1-dodecanol, is registered as a lepidopteran pheromone for use in pome fruit. The EPA carried out a tolerance reassessment for 1-dodecanol in 2002.
