More reduced-risk pesticides in Canada:
There has been a slight narrowing of the gap between the number of reduced-risk pesticides registered or pending approval in the US and Canada over the past two years. The latest figures from the Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency indicate that there were 41 such pesticides in Canada as of March 31st 2007, compared with 59 in the US. In September 2005, the numbers were 38 and 58, respectively (Agrow No 493, p 15). Twelve pesticides have been subject to joint reviews or work sharing by the US and Canadian authorities. Dow AgroSciences' insecticide, spinetoram (XDE-175), is under joint review, with decisions pending in both countries.
