CABB acquires SF-Chem:
German specialty chemical firm CABB (Sulzbach am Taunus) has acquired the Swiss chemical company, SF-Chem (Basle). Both firms specialise in the manufacture of sulfur and chlorine compounds, and are of similar size, SF Chem notes. Chlorine intermediates are used to manufacture agrochemicals. The deal results in a new "European market leader" with annual sales exceeding SwFr 400 million ($333 million), the companies say. The Swiss company labels the move as its "next growth step". In 2004, Syngenta and Clariant sold SF-Chem as part of a management buyout.
